Nicky McFadden - Fine Gael TD for Longford Westmeath

Nicky McFadden's Biography:

Nicky McFadden was elected to the Dail in February 2011 and was previously elected to the Seanad
Before entering the Seanad Nicky served on both Athlone Town Council and Westmeath County Council.
Nicky is a mother of two children, daughter Caren and son Eoin.
She is a member of Strategic Policy Committee (Planning) of Westmeath County Council and Westmeath County Heritage Forum, and a member of Westmeath VEC.
She is also a member of the governing body of Athlone IT.
She is a director of a number of local organisations including the Athlone Regional Sports Centre, Athlone e-com and Athlone Community Task Force.
Before entering public life, Nicky worked as a medical secretary for nine years.

Nicky got an early start in politics, and as a teenager she was involved in the election campaigns of her father and Paddy Cooney.
Nicky says her most memorable political moment was when peace was achieved in the North.
Her political hero is John Hume, whose career she has followed with great interest and admiration.
